Yet another preview has been released, this time by Giant Bomb.

    Concluding with

For those who did put aside Civ V some time ago, all I can say is that Gods & Kings is as valid a reason to pick the game back up again as you're likely to ever get. The game itself as as fun as ever, and the new additions feel significant enough to justify not just releasing them as piecemeal DLC.
    it certainly sounds promising.

    New day, new preview!

Take a look at the Gods and Kings preview over at Kotaku

So, I have to be honest: I've spent two years avoiding Civilization V on purpose. It's not that I have anything against the evolution of city-states into empires, or that I find resource-gathering, diplomacy, and warfare uninteresting. In fact, it's exactly the opposite: I am deeply, painfully susceptible to the classic Civ player crisis of, "Just... one more... turn!" There's a great wide hex-gridded world out there, and I have to be responsible for all of it.

Take a look at the Gods and Kings preview over at IGN

Civilization V: Gods and Kings is almost here, and it brings back a couple of key franchise systems back to Civilization V. Most notable is religion, which fans have been clamoring for ever since V released. The other major system that’s back is espionage, wherein you can send spies out to cities to combat enemy agents and gather intelligence. Neither of them ties directly to a new victory condition, but both have pronounced effects on the way you and your opponents play a game of Civilization.

As you will no doubt know, Crusader Kings 2 has recently been released by Paradox Interactive and is proving to be a big hit! Due to the overwhelming popularity of the game here at WePlayCiv, we have decided to open a new forum to cover Paradox Interactive games.

WPC has decided to celebrate the opening of our new forum by holding a competition based on Crusader Kings 2. The theme of the competition is a simple one - create an After Action Report about your game of Crusader Kings 2.

Just a quick note to advise you that there has been a bit of a spring clean in the forums. Basically there has been a tidying up of dormant/dead forums and the creation of a new forum to try to stimulate activity in an area that is showing quite some potential.

Essentially the changes that have been made are:

The ‘Civilization World’ forum has been made a subforum of the ‘Other Civ Games’ forum.
The ‘Call to Power’ forum has been made a subforum of the ‘Other Civ Games’ forum.
The ‘Writer’s Guild’ forum has been made a subforum of the ‘Off Topic’ forum.

A new forum has also been created in the Other Games section – Paradox Strategy Games.

There had been a long time interest in Paradox Games simmering here at WPC, and with the recent release of Crusader Kings 2 that interest has exploded somewhat. Rather than clutter the Other Games forum with the numerous threads that have been generated, we thought it best to give Paradox Games a home of their own and see what becomes of it.

We hope that the changes involved cause as little inconvenience as possible and, as ever, welcome any feedback you may have.

    Cheers and enjoy!

A Multi-Team Demo Game 3 (MTDG3 for short) is forming at CFC. I want to invite the WPC guys to form a team around the dedicated players and sign up for it.

To those who dont know what this MTDG thing is, I can say that this is a Civ4 BTS 3.19 game, played on pitboss between few (5-6) teams consisting of 5-10-20 players each where the players discuss, argue if need be and vote or simply decide what the best course for their team is and then a turnplayer (or several of them) play the actual turn. Collective brainstorming, multiple opinions, democratic voting, between-team diplomacy - all those are used to make sure the team develops best and at the end eventually wins the game by one of the conditions.

There will be a mapmaker and admins for the game.

For now we expect at least two teams from civfanatics and one from realmsbeyond. Apolyton guys are forming another too.

So, come on you WPC, get up, gather yourself and field a team to compete for the glory of WePlayCiv. Glory and fame awaits all those who join!

Are you interested in being a voice behind a Civilization: World podcast? SCivCast (SC, the podcast for Civ on social media apart of the PolyCast family of such shows, is looking to re-initiate its offering to the gaming community. SC owner Dan "DanQ" Quick is looking for 3-4 individuals to serve as a regular co-hosts to discuss news, forum talk, strategy and more all about CivWorld intended to entertain and inform the game to its listenership.

The show launched in January; based on discussion between "DanQ" and its then-panel, and feedback from the Civ community, the decision was made to start anew. A commitment to be apart of recording five episodes during the remainder of the 2012 calendar year is required using Skype to converse with one another to make the recordings. As a result of this shift, the show's second episode is to be released in April as opposed to March as originally planned. If you are interested and available to be apart of the SCivCast regular panel, send "DanQ" a private message including a general outline of week-to-week availability (e.g. day(s), time of day(s) and timezone) on/by March 21, 2012.

SCivCast is the fourth spin-off of the Civ strategy-centric PolyCast; fellow sibling ModCast focuses on Civ modding, RevCast on Civilization: Revolution and TurnCast on Civ multiplay.
